General Questions 🕊️

What is the Peacewalk Europe to Jerusalem (AlQuds-Yerushalayim)?

The Peacewalk is a collective pilgrimage all along the longest peace path in the world, the JERUSALEM WAY. Anyone can join for an hour, a day, a month or longer. The Peacewalk is year-long walking peace school to learn what peacebuilding is all about (inner peace, community peace and political peace). Walkers join as pilgrims of peace, combining reflection and dialogue, with events and lectures. Supporting and learning from grassroots peacebuilders as the Palestinian-Israeli justice&peace initiatives and every other one all along the way— step by step, creating encounters across borders and communities.

Anyone who feels called to walk for peace is welcome—regardless of gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion (or none), nationality, or background. You can walk, roll, bike, or join in any way that works for you individually and locally. Join for a single day, a week, a month, or the entire route. Families, friends, and individuals of all kinds are invited.

No experience is needed—just openness, respect, and a willingness to take each step (or turn of the wheel) along the path of peace.

Safety is our shared priority. Each national team monitors the local situation and provides guidance Walkers travel at their own responsibility, but we walk together, communicate daily, and stay connected with local peace networks. We do not walk in active war zones.

No — it is not a political initiative for any specific solution. We walk as a form of non-violent resistance. We don’t believe that military means will bring solutions, nor does occupation, genocide, terrorism or war. Peace opposes these things and works toward dignity and equality for all. We are an open space for all political and non-political questions walking alongside those who work for peace in every community.

This is a walk for justice, peace, and human dignity. We walk as a non-violent, grassroots action, joining voices that stand against oppression, occupation, and violence — and for reconciliation, equality, and peace for all.

Each walker covers their own travel, food, and personal costs.Whenever possible, we share meals, stay in community spaces, or receive hospitality.

Sponsorships and solidarity funds may support those with limited means.

Simplicity is part of the walk’s spirit.

The Peacewalk is inspired by Palestinian and Israeli peacebuilders who, resisting genocidal and/or ethnically cleansing governments as well as terrorist groups, even in the midst of darkness, stand up for a future built on justice and hope.

Movements like Women Wage Peace, Women of the Sun, Combatants for Peace, and Parents Circle – Families Forum show that non-violent resistance and shared humanity can overcome fear and division.

As we walk through each country, we aim to meet, support, and learn from grassroots peacebuilders who heal wounds, cross divides, and work for a common future free from war and violence — a future of dignity, freedom, and safety for all people between the river and the sea.

In May 2027, walkers will gather in Jerusalem / Al-Quds for days of reflection, encounter, and shared prayer for peace — together with local peace organisations from across the region. This will not be the end but a new beginning: a living and breathing atmosphere of grassroots peacebuildling activism, small scale, communal and politically relevant. Let’s keep walking for Just Peace.
